Teaching
Background and Approach

I hold an MFA in Dance from the University of Maryland and a BFA in Dance, summa cum laude, from Jacksonville University. I’m also a former professional dancer, and I’ve taught students from kindergarten through college in a wide range of settings, including magnet schools, HBCUs, private institutions, and Research 1 universities.
That range, along with my experience in nonprofit arts leadership and community programming, shapes how I teach: I meet students where they are, because every classroom has a different history and different needs.
I call my students movers, because I believe everyone already has movement knowledge worth building on.
My classes put trust first and technique second. I make room for each person’s movement history, then invite them to try new ways of moving and thinking with curiosity instead of judgment.
Whether I’m teaching ballet technique to non-majors or leading a community class, my goal is the same: to help people feel capable, curious, and welcome as active participants in dance, not just spectators.

Ballet
Modern
Grounding movers of every level in clear technique, alignment, and musicality, with trust before perfection.
Inviting curiosity and personal voice through weight, breath, and floor work, rooted in each mover’s own movement history.
Jazz
Muscial Theatre
Exploring rhythm, isolation, and dynamic range so students move with style, strength, and personality.
Building confident, expressive performers by connecting dance, character, and storytelling.
